An Tuireann was the arts centre for the Isle of Skye, situated
in Portree.
The reception desk refers to boats, quays and moorings, all of which are found in abundance on the island. This feeling is achieved by stacking variable lengths of ash onto a cantilevered arch, anchored and pivoting around a turned pillar, giving the piece its drama and sense of place.
This piece was shortlisted for the Arts and Crafts in Architecture Award.
