Once upon a time a friend persuaded me to go on a sailing trip with him. Its interminable progress is etched into my memory; the hours, seemingly static, upon a viciously choppy, short sea, attempting landfall at Chichester Harbour, waiting for the tide and so on and on. Out of this emerged this design, at first seen as a hallway piece - a place to keep those things necessary to presentably venture out into the world. I’m the only one in the workshop allowed to make this piece and The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers have bestowed it with a Bespoke Guild Mark.
