tricorn chair series
I was often struck by the idea that the most frequent view of a chair was against a table or with someone in it, but nearly always its back view. It was this thought that prompted me to design and make tricorn.
My brief was to create a chair that would escape the normal methods of design and construction and to do so by being elegantly comfortable, stable and strong
The back leg clamp joint on the central under-rail, together with the side rail, create the simple and arresting back view.
We also do a ‘café’ version of the laminated tricorn as seen in the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum Café.
