This box was originally designed as an apprentice exercise. Jack Singleton was our first apprentice to make them and did so beautifully, learning a lot on the way with not too many ending up in the bin. So it's only right and proper that the box now bears his name.
Each box has 52 components. It is constructed in such a way as to allow for movement whilst maintaining stability. This is achieved by slot dovetailing the internal support into the top of the box and dry dovetailing the internal sides into the external end-grain. The tops are created from individual blocks of end-grain, looking into the time the wood has taken to grow.
We have a mixture of timber combinations to include sycamore/walnut/ash and brown oak
