We've learnt that for our relationship with clients to work at its best and to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience, it is really helpful for everyone to know what is going to happen, when and how. The following is a rough guide.
After your initial approach to us, Matthew visits you to discuss brief, budget and setting.
Within an agreed period, he then presents you with scale drawings, samples and supporting material, together with a quotation and schedule. Ideally this presentation takes place in our Wiltshire showroom, so that you can have a look at timber samples and see examples of other pieces. There's a choice of two pubs/restaurants in the village just a few paces from the showroom and there are excellent hotels in the area, should you wish to stay. Salisbury, Bath and Winchester are between 30 and 45 minutes away.
If, after presentation and any design tweaks, you wish to proceed to the making stage and secure your order on our schedule, we ask for an advance payment (approximately one third of the value of the commission). Halfway through the construction stage we invite you to come down to our workshop to see and discuss the work in progress. At this point, we ask for half the remaining payment, with the final balance payable on delivery or collection.
If, however, after presentation you decide not to proceed to the making stage, we do charge a small fee of £350 + VAT for each item presented. This fee goes towards Matthew’s research time. We do also respectfully request the return of any drawings and samples.
