It starts by you getting in touch with us. We thrive on considering all types of project and enjoy the discipline of working to agreed budgets, so please contact us to discuss your ideas.
THE BRIEFING STAGE
After your initial approach we normally respond by asking if we may visit you. This will allow us to see the intended space(s), the scale, the surroundings and the way you like to live, whilst at the same time glean as much information as you care to give. This is developed conversationally and collaboratively into a design brief, a budget and schedule.
THE DESIGNING STAGE
We would agree timing for the research and design stage to allow for pondering and drawing ideas together. Designs are presented as the opening of a conversation. After consultation and if necessary design modification or a re-draw, we present a resolved proposal and drawings, together with quotations and schedules. We do not charge for the design process except with complex or larger work, or for interior design or other professional design practices, and then only after agreement of those costs.
Ideally, and if possible, we prefer to present our ideas at our showroom where we can surround you with the whiff of our own gunpowder, and examples of our work and timber samples. We understand that this is not always practical or desirable, and we are more than willing to present to you on your own turf.
There is a choice of two delightful pubs/restaurants in the village just a few paces from our showroom and there are other pubs and excellent hotels in the area should you wish to stay and explore our beautiful corner of Wiltshire. Salisbury, Bath and Winchester are 30 to 40 minutes away.
If you are happy to proceed to the making stage and secure your order on our schedule, we ask for an advance payment of approximately one third of the value of the commission and, on its receipt, we will start work on your piece.
THE MAKING STAGE
We will keep you informed of progress on your piece with informative postcards or emails. We extend an invitation for you to visit the workshop during construction to share the excitement of seeing your piece in the making.
DELIVERY & INSTALLATION
We personally deliver your work, within the original quotation. We believe it is important that those who have made your furniture take responsibility for it into its final setting, so whenever possible the maker will deliver and if necessary head-up the installation.
